The Gluten Unit of the National Biotechnology Centre (Spanish Research Council - CSIC) developed a series of technologies that enabled it to provide a service for gluten quantification in food as a way of improving the quality of life of coeliac patients. Given the major welcome this initiative was given in the international food sector, it was decided to make this independent from the public centre and turn it into a company.
The Genetrix Group accepted the challenge of setting up this project and created Imbiosis in 2005 as a spin-off of the Gluten Unit, becoming its principal shareholder. The recently created Imbiosis signed strategic agreements with the National Biotechnology Centre by which collaboration guidelines were established and various other technologies were patented including the "Cocktail" gluten extraction solution for which Imbiosis is an exclusive patent holder.
Since its creation, Imbiosis has set itself the aim of turning into a reference company for gluten analysis in all types of food. The success of the project is based on the experience of the human resources team and the guaranteed quality of service of analysis and investigation into new technologies.
